Barnett, as a college performer with the Mississippi College Naturals when The Naturals performed at the opening ceremonies of the SMA at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Karen has served on the board of the Mississippi State Medical Association Alliance in various positions since 2001, and served as President in 2006-2007. She also served for three years with the AMA Alliance Membership and Foundation committees as well as the Nominating Committee. Prior to becoming President-elect of SMAA, she served as Councilor, Nominating Committee member, Finance Chair, Bylaws Chair, R & E Chair, Vice President of Doctors’ Day, and Vice President of Membership.
Karen has a passion for music. When she is not volunteering with the Alliance or Junior Auxiliary, she enjoys singing in church as well as other special events.
