Elaine Hale has been a member of the Southern Medical Association (SMA) Alliance for many years. She has served in numerous positions including State Councilor, Chair of Convention Planning, Health Education, Membership and Reading Committees, Vice President of Health Education and Membership, and as Secretary. She is a Charter member of the SMA Alliance Society of 1924.
Elaine has served as the Orange County Medical Society Alliance President three times, is a past president of the Florida Medical Association Alliance, and has served on the American Medical Association Alliance Membership Marketing Committee.
Elaine is a lifetime volunteer and children’s advocate. Since advocating for children is her priority, she serves on the Orange County Drug Free Coalition, the Orange County Heroin Task Force, and chairs the Orange County Tobacco-Free Partnership. She has spent over thirty-five years volunteering in public schools, serving as PTA President and Volunteer Coordinator in many schools over the years. At one time Elaine supervised over 700 volunteers. She has also mentored and tutored at the Great Oaks Village children’s home and helped start a free after school tutoring program for low income children.
An avid cyclist, Elaine spent time bicycle racing and has been an official for the Race Across America. She served on the Steering Committee for the Grape Nuts Liberty Ride celebrating the two hundredth birthday of the Statue of Liberty. She also created and presents a bicycle safety program in local elementary schools.
Elaine’s husband Steve works in Public Health. They have two sons and have been fortunate to mentor at risk teenage boys over the years. They have a grandson and four granddaughters.
